What is Spiritual?
Of, relating to, consisting of, or affecting the spirit: incorporeal spiritual needs.
What is Fitness?
The quality or state of being fit.
Now combine that and you have Spiritual Fitness! Which is…
Spiritual Fitness is a term used to capture a person’s overall spiritual health and reflects how spirituality may help one cope with and enjoy life. Spirituality may be used generally to refer to that which gives meaning and purpose in life.
How Do I Obtain It?
First, you need to get into a good bible base church and began to form a strong relationship with God; get to know Him and His word, the road map of life that He has left behind to help us in this dying world… Better known as the Bible-The Word of God!
Paul tells us in…
1 Timothy 4:7-8
“Train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come”
You all, it’s time that we DISCIPLINE ourselves and EXCERSISE the right, talents and powers that God has given us as his Disciples…
We have to JUMP into this thing called Holiness; take a LEAP of faith and STRETCH those spiritual muscles, while WALKING this thing out called life and RUNNING with perseverance towards the mark of salvation; PUSHING past our emotions and staying focused on the reward; which is everlasting life. All while LIFTING other up with us!
But to do this we have to be in tip-top shape SPIRITUALLY, so that we don’t get weary in our well doing and if we get thirsty; God said in…
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
That’s why it’s so important that we stay in the Word of God and win at this thing!
That being said, I have listed a few scriptures to get you motivated and moving in the right direction.
Now don’t just read these scriptures and move forward like a Spiritual-Junkie (you know the person, who just come to church to get a fix, cause their going through something. Be in church praising, singing and falling out; then when they leave church, that same day and the high is gone, they go back to the same old things, until they get the next fix and that’s whenever they decide to come back to church again) NO!!! That’s not called Spiritually-Fit; that’s called “Spiritual-Fix”!
I want you to move-forward with Spiritually Strong; therefore, in an effort to be Spiritually-Fit and Strong you have to change/renew you mind, heart and emotions. And only the Word of God can do that! So take a look at the below scriptures and do the (4R-Repeat Exercise)
See if you do something for 21 days it becomes a habit but when you do something for 365 days it becomes a lifestyle! So let’s get on this treadmill of life towards Spiritual-Fitness!
LETS GET SPIRITUAL, SPIRITUAL, I WANT TO GET SPIRITUAAALLLL; LET’S GET INTO SPIRITUAL…in my “Olivia Newton-John” Not-Physical but Holy-singing voice!
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27
24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. 25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. 27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control,[a] lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.
1 Corinthians 10:31
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
I appeal to you therefore, brothers,[a] by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.
33 He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.
34 He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.
35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.
36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.
